INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING FILMS LIMITED (IPAK Group) BOPP/CPP/BOPET films plant in Pakistan acquired FILTRO and INFOCONTAINER from INFORMA to improve production performance and logistics.

INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING FILMS LIMITED (IPAK Group) – Plant

June 27, 2023

FILTRO and INFOCONTAINER, two of our flagship products, have been acquired by INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING FILMS LIMITED (IPAK Group), Lahore, Pakistan. This new business relationship will improve the production performance and logistics of the Pakistan company.

IPAK GROUP comprising of IPAK BOPP line capacity of 40000 tons/annum and CPAK CPP Line with a capacity of 8000 tons per annum of various grades and thicknesses ranging from 10 to 60 microns, started operation in 2017 in Lahore, Pakistan. New Lines of GPAK BOPP line with a capacity of 60000 tons per annum & PETPAK BOPET line with a capacity of 40000 Tons per annum are scheduled to be in production by the last quarter of 2023

INTERNATIONAL PACKAGING FILMS LIMITED (IPAK Group) opted for slitting optimisation software considering the expansion in volume. IPAK Group acquired machinery from BONFANTI, the leader in material handling and production logistics. IPAK Group chose FILTRO to supply the slitting optimisation and INFOCONTAINER for container stuffing optimisation. FILTRO minimises the production of scraps during the slitting of customer rolls from the jumbo roll and controls the number of setups when setting the slitter. INFOCONTAINER helps customers to reach maximum loading and reduce problems in the dispatch phase. IPAK chose FILTRO and INFOCONTAINER since they are part of the TANGRAM integrated solution for companies producing and slitting plastic films. Informa developed TANGRAM in partnership with Bonfanti.

INFORMA’s significant experience installing FILTRO in many film production systems allowed IPAK Group to obtain considerable improvements confidently. IPAK Group started using the software with just a few hours of training and immediately saved the scrap and time required to produce a slitting plan.

About FILTRO

FILTRO is a combinatorial solver. The software considers the process and machine constraints and fully integrates with the TANGRAM Suite (Scheduling and M.E.S.)

Features

• minimisation of trim and setup waste – Primary slitter
• maximisation of intermediate roll widths
• minimisation of Metallizer/Secondary slitter trim/setups
• multi-width optimization
• isotropic optimisation
• defect optimisation
• cardboard core optimisation
• integration with warehouses

About INFOCONTAINER

INFOCONTAINER is a combinatorial solver. The INFOCONTAINER package is a valid support for companies in the planning phase of delivering goods to customers, helping them reach the maximum load and reducing problems during the shipping phase.

Features

• optimisation of container stuffing for improved deliveries
• optimisation of work of the despatching department
• reductions in confirmation time analysis
• great capacity to analyse large quantities of orders (multi-container)

About INFORMA

Since 1986, INFORMA has been fully dedicated to studying and solving optimisation problems in production planning, specifically for manufacturing and distribution companies.

INFORMA has become highly specialised in optimising the cutting of materials, scheduling production planning to order confirmation, transportation planning, and truck/container loading for goods delivery.

IPAK Group is a green field project that started operations in 2017 in Lahore, Pakistan. The BOPP Line of IPAK has a capacity of 40,000 tons per annum and manufactures BOPP films of various grades and thicknesses ranging from 10 to 60 microns. With the addition of CPAK, CPP Line with a capacity of 8000 tons per annum is added to CPP Capacity.

Considering the growth projection in flexible packaging, IPAK Group is in the project phase of GPAK BOPP Line with a capacity of 60000 tons per annum & PETPAK BOPET Line with a capacity of 40000 tons per annum. These are scheduled to be in production by the last quarter of 2023. With these additions, IPAK Group will be the first group providing BOPP, MOPP, CPP, MCPP, BOPET & MOPET films under one umbrella worldwide.

Quality Certifications ISO 9001, 14001, 22000 and 45001 were achieved in 2018. Most recently, the company has achieved certification status of ISCC Plus for IPAK & CPAK after demonstrating a substantial reduction in Carbon & Water Footprints. The manufacturing facility is located in the Northern part of Pakistan, making it convenient to supply locally and to export.
